The Beatles

Richard Starkey was born in the front room of his house on July 7, 1940. He was born in the roughest part of Liverpool, the Dingle Area. His parents parted when he was 3 and has only seen his father once or twice since. At the age of 6, he developed Appendicitis. After 2 operations, he fell into a coma. After 10 weeks, he came out and went back to school at age 7. His mother remarried when he was 11. He soon afterwards developed another deadly disease.

Complications with one of his lungs kept him in the hospital for 2 years. He showed musical interest as a boy, and his father gifted a drum set to him. During a trip with a band Ringo was asked to play with the Beatles a few times. He eventually joined the band simply because they offered him more money. He then toured as the most popular Beatle for some time.

Ringo eventually married his childhood sweetheart, Maureen Cox, on the 11th of February, 1965. They married after learning that she was pregnant. They had 2 boys and 1 girl. His one son, Zak, would play in Ringo’s All Star Band in the future.

He rarely sung with the Beatles, since he was the drummer, but sang hits such as “Octopus’s Garden”, and “With a Little Help From My Friends”. After the Beatles, Ringo started his own band, and played with Paul from time to time. He was also well known as the conductor on Thomas The Tank Engine.
