During the 1800’s, the fashion mostly stayed the same. The 1890’s, corsets were the most common style. Victorian dresses were very common too. Later, in the 1890’s, dresses became heavier and skirts began to increase. Paris had a firm hold on the fashion world. The biggest revolution in clothing was caused be the wheel, or two wheels known as the bicycle. It was hard with full length skirts and formal blouses. The 1800’s were the years that started fashion.

Around the time period of the early 20th century, the main style was Victorian. Women wore strictly only dresses, big sleeves and high collars. For adult women, hair must has always been in a bun. Clothing then similar to fashion’s from the 16th early-20th century.

1920, “Year of the Flappers,” and “The Jazz Age,” Girls were now wearing shorter cropped dresses and skirts. Crossword puzzle stockings were the big “have-to-have.” Satin and lace were probably the most common and popular materials. The skirts were getting so short for those times you could see the tops of the stockings. Hair was mostly parted on the side and curled to the head. |

1930’s were close to the depression years. People were poorer, so fashion then was not a big deal, staying alive and your family was. Short sleeves and very tight belts were common. Then, styled hats and wild pasterns were introduced, and most of the rich people had an assortment of fur pleats. The more elite people rocked only one glove, a clutch purse, and slant line cut material.
