A small part of the marching band is the flag carriers, who are also known as the "Flaggettes." These Students are band students in grades 8-9 and are recruited by Mr. Petrossi. Their job is to open the American flag for the Pre-game show. |
| The Flaggettes open a flag that measures approximately forty yards, by ten yards. It is opened for the playing of the Star Spangled Banner. The flag is opened in almost every weather. The field has to be in good condition, due to some of the Flaggettes having to run. The Flaggettes have a lot of responsibilities as well. |

The Flaggettes have many responsibilities. For a couple of days in the summer, they have to come and learn how to open and close a flag that size. After getting it opened, closed, and off the field, the Flaggettes have to fold it accurately, so it opens correctly for the next game. The Flaggettes open the flag a total of five times, since the home band does the Pre-game show. |
| The Flaggettes also have another interesting job. After keeping a flag that size from touching the ground, how do you dry out a flag that big after a rainy Pre-game? Well, after getting it off the field, it has to be taken through the high school campus and into the auditorium. Once in there, the Flaggettes have to lay it out over the auditorium seats. It takes up almost a whole section of seating. It helps when everyone works together. After all their hard work, the Flaggettes get a special treat. |
| The Flaggettes are invited to attend the annual band banquet. Overall, the Flaggettes have a lot of fun, Since they're part of the Marching Band, they get to see all of the home games. Being a Flaggette is a lot of fun and it is a wonderful thing to be involved in. |
