Most major picture studios have fled Hollywood for many places. One of the biggest names in movie-making is Paramount Pictures. It is the longest operating and still working studio in Hollywood. It is also one of the only studios that has guided tours throughout the studio.

Paramount Pictures was created on May 8, 1912, by W. W. Hodkinson. Paramount Pictures was the first company that did nationwide distribution. This company later also made a five-year contract with three different film-makers and soon had a new firm name, "Paramount Pictures Corporation"

Paramount Pictures Corporation was dominating in the American market, it had the highest stats under contract. Soon, W. W. Hodkinson was fired by Adolph Zukor to challenge the power. With this change, the rates were booming, and Paramount Pictures was at the top.

After World War II Paramount Pictures starts to struggle with the other movie businesses. Soon enough Paramount Pictures split in half and the other half became United Paramount Theatres, which later merged to ABC. Then, came Robert Evans as a studio header and proved to be successful and the next ten years Paramount Pictures would again become the number one studio in Hollywood. Later, came many popular shows, like Happy Days, The Brady Bunch, and Cheers.
