Attractions

 

 

  Hollywood is a very important tourist center in California.  One of its main attractions is the Wax Museum.  The Wax Museum is one of Hollywood's most famous museums in California.  It is also on one of the most famous streets, Hollywood Boulevard.  It was opened in 1965 and brought a very large crowd.  To this day, the Wax Museum still has a large crowd.
  Another very famous attraction in Hollywood is the Walk of Fame.  It was created in 1958 by Oliver Weismulter.  It is a sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, honoring Hollywood's greatest celebrities.  These celebrities, on the walk of Fame, leave their mark on the sidewalk in the shape of a star.  On these stars are the stars name.
   

 

The Hollywood sign is the most commonly known attraction in Hollywood.  It was erected on July 13, 1923.  These letters are thirty-one to thirty-nine feet wide and forty-five feet high.  Because there so big, they have a huge budget of $27,000 per letter.  These letters were also originally lined with light bulb borders, but were removed.  Because of the high cost,  The Hollywood sign on Mount Lee is one of the most famous attractions in Hollywood.  One interesting fact about the Hollywood Sign, is a young women suicidally jumped off the letter "H".

 

 

 

  Another very popular landmark is the Magic Castle.  It is an authentic Victorian Mansion built in 1908.  It was then bought in 1963 by Milt Larsen.  The Magic Castle is located on the hill just north of down town Hollywood.  It is used to entertain people with many various magicians.  They also have many different rooms with doors only opened saying "Open Sesame."

 

 

 

 

 

One of the most historical theaters in Hollywood is the Hollywood Palladium.  It opened on September 23, 1940 with Frank Sinatra and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.  It has about a 11,200 square foot dance floor with room up to about 3, 500 people.
