The first college football game was played on November 6, 1869. College football is filled with bowl games, and conference championship games. If your on a good team you may get an invitation to a BCS bowl game which would be the Fiesta Bowl, The Rose Bowl, The Tostitos Bowl and the Orange bowl. those are the bowl games for the top ranked teams in the country and for teams who win their conference. You might even be a good enough player to be eligible for The Heisman Trophy award, or any of the other awards that are given out to the best lineman, quarterback, running back, linebacker, defensive back, and the best kicker.
