Famous Defense Players

A strong leader for the Steelers defense throughout the 70’s and 80’s was L.C. Greenwood. He had 73.5 sacks in his entire career and was a huge role in the Pittsburgh Steelers defense. He played from 1969-1981. He was the starting left defensive end. He played in all four of the Steelers Super Bowls.

 

            One of the greatest defensive players for the Steelers was Joe Greene. He played as a defensive tackle. He was known as the Steel Curtain and named twice NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He played in ten Pro Bowl games. 1987, he was added in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

            As of today, there is a great defensive player on the Steelers. He plays as a Defensive Tackle and his name is Kimo von Oelhoffen. As a of this year, he has thirty-three tackles, one sack, and two fumbles. He is playing a major part in Steelers defense and is doing a great job.

 

            Another outstanding player is Troy Polamalu. You’ve probably heard of him for his great work on Defense. He plays as a Safety. He is one of the NFL’s top safeties and was selected to play in the 2005 Pro Bowl. He is known as ferocious hitter with excellent speed.

 

James Farrior is another great player of the Steelers today. He plays as a Linebacker and has nine years of experience. He is one of the key players and was selected as the 2004 team MVP. Also, he was selected to play in the Pro Bowl. He was named to the Pro Football weekly All-NFL team and All-Pro by the Sporting News.

 

Aaron Smith has developed into one of the NFL’s top defensive linemen. He plays today and has seven years of experience. In 2004, he was named to his first Pro Bowl after leading the team with eight sacks tying a career-high. The Steelers Defensive depends on this talented player.
