Great players

History

There are many great hitters today. Hitting requires extreme concentration and a good eye.  It also requires a good pitch over home plate, which is called a strike. A very good hitter will be able to swing at pitches that aren’t even over home plate and still get a hit out of the bad pitch.

When hitting, focus on the pitcher before he throws the ball. When he throws it, watch the ball out of his hand until it is close to the plate. When it is about two feet away, swing the bat at the ball. Don’t take your eye off the ball until you actually hit it. If you make contact, then run!

A good hitter will be able to maintain a hitting average in the high .200’s to the .300’s.  That means in every one in three at bats, the hitter will be able to reach a base safely. It is extremely hard to do though, but you will be recognized if you manage to do it.

Some good hitters are the ones on this page.  Frank Thomas, Rich Aurilia , Shawn Green, Jason Giambi, and Luis Gonzalez are all getting pretty old, but are still classic hitters. Those are just to name a few, also. Most of them have been traded to different teams by now because these are old baseball cards.
