To the left, you see Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was born on October 14, 1890. He grew up in Abilene, Kansas. . To the right, you see Mamie Eisenhower. They married on July 1, 1916. The wedding was a simple ceremony at the Doud home in Denver.

Eisenhower lived on a farm with his wife and kids. In the house, you can see the living room, screened in porch, entrance hall, dining room, sitting room, General’s room, Mamie’s dressing room and bath, master bedroom, maid’s room, guest room, laundry room, Moaney’s room, kitchen, and den. There house was three stories high. Mamie bought it because she liked the kitchen. The rooms of the house are decorated with memorabilia from the days when the Eisenhower’s were living in the home.

Eisenhower’s nickname was “Ike”. He was called this by most of his close friends and family. In 1915-1916, Ike graduated from West Point. In 1917, the U.S. entered WWI. In 1929, Ike was assigned to Office of Assistant Secretary of War. In 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. The U.S. enters World War I. | ![]() |

In 1948, Ike retires from active military service. IN 1969, Dwight D. Eisenhower dies on March 28, at the age of 78. He is buried with full military honors in Abilene, Kansas. In 1979, Mamie Eisenhower dies November 1, at the age of 82. She is buried next to Ike at the Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene. Eisenhower was a great general and president.
