There are so many famous players nobody even names them all.  Famous players didn’t just go into the N.H.L. and said for themselves that they were famous.  They had to work extremely hard.

One of the most famous players is Gordie Howe.  He was born on March. 31, 1928 in Floral, Saskatchewan, Canada.  He didn’t start playing until he was 8.  When he turned 16 he was signed to the Detroit Red Wings.  He set numerous hockey records that seemed to be unbreakable.  He made his final appearance in the N.H.L. when he was in his 50’s in 1997.  Making him the only player to have played in 6 different decades.

Ron Francis was born on March. 1, 1963 in Sault Ste. Mare, Ontario, Canada.  He played junior hockey in his hometown.  He was drafted to the Hartford Whalers with their 1st pick, 4th overall in 1981.  In 1991 the trade deadline, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Francis’ addition helped the Pens win their first Stanley Cup in 1991.  He helped them win another cup the next year.  He stayed in Pittsburgh until 1998 when he was signed to the Carolina Hurricanes.  Francis continued to play there until the 03’04 season came.  He was then traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs and is still currently playing today.
