Passing!

Girls work on there passing to develop strong hitting abilities. To do the forearm pass (which is also called a bump pass) keep your arms firm and locked. Make ser your knees are bent so the ball hits your arms about the wrists.

Setting!

A set s the link between the pass and the hit that sends the ball over the net. The hitters hit the ball to the setters and the setter and the setter hits the ball with the tips of there fingers over the net. The setter is referred to as the “quarter back” of volleyball. To set the ball you MUST stand with your feet facing the net!

SPIKING!

Spiking is the dramatic part of volleyball. Spiking is referred to “dunking”. To spike, you take several running steps forward, plant your feet, and jump up hitting the ball with the palm of your hand directly overt the net.

BLOCKING!

Blocking is a defensive move. When blocking, the blockers must make sure not to touch the net.  HOW TO BLOCK: run to position jump straight up, spread apart your fingers as wide as the can. If done correctly the ball will fall back on the spiking teams’ side.

Defense!

Blocking is the first line of defense. If the blocker missed the block, the other players must be ready. HOW TO BE A DEFENSIVE PLAYER: bend your legs, stay low to the floor so you can dive for the balls. Use both arms to pass the ball. Sometimes they might do a dig. A dig is when you have to stretch to one side to make the pass. GOOD DEFENSIVE PLAYERS WIN GAMES!
