How The Game Got Started In 1895 a man named William J Morgan decided to invent a sport that fit or unfit people could play. He also invented this sport for people who didn’t like the fast paced world of basketball. His rules for the game however changed over time. For example volleyball was at first intended for girls, but guys soon picked up on this sport. Also in the beginning they played nine people on one side of the court, and now there are only six aloud. |

Olympics
In 1957, volleyball was entered into the Olympics. In 1984 the men’s Olympic team won the gold medal. In the 1998 Olympics the men won the gold medal again, but there winning steak was broken when the placed second in the 1992 Olympics. As people watched volleyball in the Olympics they picked up the sport and it spread like wild fire. Volley ball is a very competitive sport in Japan, they work there Olympians very hard. The rule that the coaches tell there players is, “if your patient and persistent you will be a great player, and maybe even an Olympian. |
