Famous Players

  Tiger Woods

Probably the most widely recognized golf player in the world. And rightly so! This year alone, he has won 10 times including 2 majors, the British Open and the Masters. He's won over 5 million dollars this year. Tiger Woods is the most winning golfer in major history second only to Jack Nicklaus. He's won ten majors already and he's only 29!

  Vijay Singh

Not quite as well known, but still just as talented, is number 2 in the world, Vijay Singh. He has racked up 28 PGA tour victories, 4 of which came this season. Last year he won the PGA Championship and for a short time was number  one in the world ahead of Tiger Woods.

  Annika Sorenstam

One of the best on the LPGA tour, Annika Sorenstam is the "Tiger Woods" of women's golf. This year she made a run at the calendar grand slam. A calendar grand slam is when a player wins all 4 majors in one season. Meaning you must win the Masters, the U.S. Open , the British Open, and the PGA Championship (all in that order). Annika won the first 2, then lost. No man or woman has ever won the calendar grand slam.

  Michelle Wie

One of the newest, youngest surprises in golf is Michelle Wie. She is 15 and has played in many LPGA events. Originally from Hawaii, she has dominated the amateur circuit, winning a number of girls events. In the PGA events she has played in though, she's never made the cut in ant of them. Not bad for a sophomore in high school?

  Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson is one of the more famous left-handed golfers today. He is one of the hardest working players around. He's always at the range with his coach, Rick Smith until almost night. He shows up at majors even earlier than necessary to practice and get a feel for the course.

  Jack Nicklaus

There is no doubt that Jack Nicklaus is the greatest golfer of all-time. He won an unbroken record of 18 career majors. He has won in the PGA tour countless times and has won millions of dollars. He has played for many years. He has gracefully said good-bye to golf by announcing that he will not participate in any more major events. But one thing is for sure. Jack Nicklaus will always be remembered as the greatest golfer of all-time.
