CoRgi'S

There are two types of Corgi's Pembrokes' and Cardigans'. The main difference between the two is that the Pembroke's have short tails and the Cardigans' have long tails. The best way to remember this is that a cardigan sweater has long sleeves (cardigan's have long tails). And the Pembroke have short tails.

Behavior:

Both Corgi's are very sweet dogs. They are always little balls of energy. Also, they are very obedient to their masters or owners. They do bark a lot but their sweet smile makes up for it. They are never shy about anything, they are never violent dogs.

Origin:

Most people are not sure where Corgi’s originated, though it is thought Wales, England. Even though the two Corgis’ look alike they have very separate roots. Pembroke’s got their name from Pembrokeshire, Wales. Cardigans are thought to have been brought over by the Celts in 1200 B.C. Corgi’s also captured the attention of British royalty, to this day the queen of England has six or seven corgi’s.

Appearance:

Both Corgis’s basically look the same with color. Both come in reddish, brown, brindle, sable, black, tan or fawn, and blue merle. They are both heavy boned a have a deep chest. The biggest difference is the Pembroke’s have short tails and Cardigans. They have short stubby legs and big ears. The cutest feature is the smile they give you when you walk through the door.

Abilities:

Corgi’s are in the Herding Group. They might be short but they are very fast. Whenever the Celts brought them over they used them to herd their cattle and sheep. Even if you are outside running around they will try to get you to stay in one place, like they would do with cattle or sheep. Along with that they will bark, they make the perfect watch dog.

Caring:

The caring needs for a Corgi isn’t much. You have to brush them every day because they have a water resistant coat. Even though they like to run a lot a walk every day is good enough. They don’t need fed a lot either.

If you want a great family dog here it is. I must warn you though they shed a lot. And, they may be little but they are big dogs in a small suite.
