Skiing

   Safety

Skiing all begins with the safety procedures.  First you must have a life vest.  Always have a spotter incase you fall.  The spotter has to be at least 10 years old.

Equipment

Skiing also requires equipment.  You of course need a ski or two.  You can ski with one or two skies.  Gloves would be a good idea to get a better grip on the handle.  The rope should typically be 65-75 feet.  The rope needs a handle.

  Beginning

You begin skiing by entering the water with your ski or skies.  Then, you go out deep so you can not stand and float there.  Grab the handle firmly and put the rope between your legs and skies.  Also, put your elbows around your knees and bring your knees close to your chest.  Say "Ready!" and the boat will slowly pull you out of the water.

  Skiing

When you are out of the water and skiing it is important to keep balanced and keep your skies straight.  Once you have done that you can lean back and forth over the wake.  As u come back to shore or where you want to stop let go of the rope and stay straight as you sink.

  Dropping a ski

You begin dropping a ski by putting your skies on.  When you are out of the water start picking up the ski you want to drop.  Then slide it out of the boot.  After that start balancing one on ski and once you have good balance you can touch your foot in the back of the ski and slide it in.  Now you have successfully dropped a ski and are ready to start in the water with one.

  Slalom Skiing

Slalom skiing in skiing with one ski.  It is harder to start in the water than dropping a ski.  First, get in the water with your front foot in.  Grab the handle and but the rope in between your legs.  You can start with your back foot in but it is harder for most people.  When you are ready yell "Ready!"  When the boat pulls you drag your back foot in the water as a fin and keep your ski straight.  Then stand up and keep your foot in the back.
