Boxers

The breed of dogs known as the Boxers are said to first originate from Asia. In 1904 the first Boxer was registered into the American Kennel Club. The Boxer took a long time to gain popularity but today it is a very popular household pet.

Boxers are very unique looking dogs. Most female Boxers weigh around sixty pounds, and male boxers weigh around sixty-five pounds. Male boxers are usually 22-24 inches and female boxers are around 21-23 inches. For breeders there are only two acceptable colors in a Boxer, fawn and brindle and some white.

Keeping a Boxer healthy is very important. The normal age span for a boxer is around ten or eleven. Some common medical problems for boxers are hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, aortic stenosis which is a hereditary heart disease, and cancer. Another thing that is common in Boxers is acne, Boxers can get acne just like people.

A Boxer can make a great pet as long as is gets the right care. Most Boxers are allowed to leave their mother at around eight weeks. Boxers must go to the veterinarian almost every other week when they are puppies. When Boxers are young you must check regularly to make sure their teeth are coming in right. Boxers need many shots and vaccinations so make sure to give them those too. Boxers will also need lots of toys and a large crate for them to grow into. Boxers can be fun so consider getting one.
