Tap

Tap is a American art that started in slavery. The African slaves would mix their traditional dances with clog and jigs dancing with the European American's. So that is when tap dancing became a style of dance that's used throughout the world today.
Just like any other shoe tap shoes come in different styles. But they all have one thing in common. They all have metal plates on the bottom and that's how the noise is produced. Tap shoes are usually white tan or black. With tap shoes they can also sometimes have heels. It's more difficult with these kind of shoes, but it makes the dancers legs look longer.
When tap dancing you don't want to just use your feet. You want to be able to move your arms and head along with your feet and ankles. When tapping you are moving quickly and rhythmically so it's important to know where your center of balance is.
Before you start tapping you should have a warm-up. This could just consist of stretching your ankles. This is important so that you don't hurt them. Some of the more simple movements that could be apart of the warm-up could be brush, shuffle, flap, cramp roll, and ball change. Doing this will make it easier to move faster when it's needed.
When tapping just like any other type of dance it's better to wear stretchy but yet form fitting clothes. For tap just as long as your pants aren't to long you would also be able to wear loose clothing so it moves with you. This will help when you have to move faster so that you won't have to worry about clothing getting in your way when dancing.
