Ballet

I'm going to share some background information on ballet now. Ballet began in Italian courts in the 15th century. France then became the first center of ballet. Which then made  French the official language of ballet and to this day still is the official language.
When dancing in ballet there are a couple different shoe types you can wear. For guys there's typically only one shoe they will wear. The usually wear black canvas shoes with elastic. Girls can have a variety of shoes. For girls you can have canvas shoes, leather, or satin flat shoes with elastic or ribbon. They could also have satin pointe shoes with ribbon.

When dancing in any class you want to wear form fitting clothes but still stretch and move with you. Most studios require black leotards and pink tights. Sometimes depending on the studio colored leotards can be worn. Typically that is what girls will wear. When boys are dancing they usually wear trunks over a sleeveless tank top leotard and socks. Or they will sometimes wear tights, leotard, t-shirt, or a unitard
Before you start to dance you should always stretch and make sure your warmed up so you don't get hurt. Most dancers have their own warm-up for before they start dancing. The warm-ups usually consist of sitting and stretching a combination on bar, and all of your splits.
In ballet their are five basic positions. They are first, second, third, fourth, and fifth. First position is when your heels are together with your legs turned out from the hips. Second is almost the same as first only you move yours heels apart. Third position is when you cross one foot halfway in front of the other still with your legs turned out. Fourth is when you place one foot in front of the other but leaving a space between them. The last position is fifth. Fifth is when you stand with your feet fully crossed and touching.
