Hitting

Equipment

Baseball equipment for hitting is very important so that you do not injure yourself, get blisters, and so that you can hit.  Baseball bats are the basis of hitting. Bats generally range from twenty inches ten ounces to thirty-three inches thirty ounces.  They are either made of wood or aluminum.  Wood is used in the major leagues for safety issues.  Batting gloves are used to keep your fingers warm or add extra grip.  They are generally cheap.  Batters must wear helmets when they come up to hit to prevent injury.  Batters in the Major Leagues often use shin guards on the shin that faces the front.  The ball is the most important item in hitting and in baseball.  This is the general equipment for baseball.

Running The Bases

Running the bases is an element in baseball that can make or break a team.  When you run the bases you must run in the baseline from base to base.  Once you reach a base and your teammate is hitting you must take a lead.  The average lead is about eight feet from the base, more if you are going to steal and less if you don't want to be thrown out.  Stealing is also a major aspect of running the bases.  Stealing is when you run from one base to another while a ball is not in play.  It is very hard to steal because the catcher can throw to the base you are running to and you could be tagged out.

Singles

Singles are hits when you only reach first base.  Usually the ball is hit into the outfield, a soft line drive right to someone, or a ground ball past the infield, or even a hit in the infield where the runner reaches first base before the throw gets there.

Doubles

Doubles are hits in which you reach not only first base but also second base.  Doubles are usually hard line drives that are in the gaps between the outfielders or a line drive down one of the lines.  Doubles are not hard to hit but are hit less frequently than singles.

Triples

Triples are hits in which you not only reach first or second but also third base.  Triples are usually hard line drives that go in the corners of the outfield in which the ball rolls around a lot.  The runner usually has to be fast to get there and many do.  Triples are hit the least of all.

Home Runs

Home runs are hits in which you hit a ball on the fly over the outfield fence in fair territory.  You get to trot around the bases and touch home and that scores anyone on base.  Homeruns are hit pretty often even though they sound the hardest to hit.
