       The Mako shark is an extraordinary shark. It is the fastest kind of shark. It can reach speeds up to 35 mph. The length of this shark is 12 feet long when fully grown. It weighs up to 1,000 lbs. The Mako is a very deadly shark. It has been known to attack humans.
   It also has been seen
attacking boats. The Mako has extremely strong fins. It also has a narrow body that is why it moves so fast.

 

          The Mako shark eats only a few things as a youngster. One of the foods is small fish. The other food is squid. When the Mako gets older it is able to eat bigger fish. It can do that because the develop speed and strength as they get older. Some of the bigger foods they eat are marlins, smaller sharks, and swordfish. The Mako needs the energy from the food to go fast. That is why the Mako has to eat a lot. Makos get their food almost every time they hunt.
                      
           The Mako is a very aggressive shark. If it feels threatened it will attack. It has razor sharp teeth. It could bite a hole in a wooden boat. It can go so fast that it can jump out of the water and over a boat. So you wouldn't want to mess with a Mako shark.
 
  The Makos closest relatives are the Longfin Mako and the Great white
shark.

The Mako lives in warm water in the Gulf, Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
