Scott Rolen was traded from the Philadelphia Phillies to the St. Louis Cardinals two years ago.  He graduated from Jasper High School in 1993 where he received the states Mr. Baseball award.  It was an award given to the states top high school player.  He also received multiple basketball scholarships from Oklahoma State, Georgia, and several other colleges.  He founded the Camp Emma Lou and the Enis Furley Foundation in Bloomington, Indian to support children and their families.  He raised money for the Prostate Cancer Research.  He was a proud sponsor of the “Say no to drugs” program and the Lapus Foundation Walk of Life. 

 

 
   
  He has already hit 30 homeruns this year.  For many years Rolen has had great power.  He also has been a fierce competitor for the National League’s Most Valuable Player award.  Rolen is also one of the games premier defensive players with 5 gold gloves.   His hitting is one of the most vibrant parts of his game.  He is great contact hitter with good power. 
  He ranked 3rd in the National League in batting average with runners in scoring position.  He has also gotten better at reading pitches.  Cardinals Manager Tony LaRussa said Scott is one of the best base runners he has ever seen.  Scott Rolen is a great defensive player with above average hitting skills.
