Beltre had an MVP worthy season in 2004 despite losing the award to Barry Bonds. In 2004 Beltre hit the most homeruns in a season by a third baseman with 48 homeruns. Last year he was a much more patient hitter than all of his previous years. He cut down on his strikeout percentage and he walked more often. He had power to all parts of the field. He jumps on right-handed pitchers, but struggles a little bit against southpaws. He had bone spurs in his left ankle in 2004 that greatly affected his speed and aggressiveness on the bases. When healthy, he has fantastic years. He is a good defensive third baseman and has made great strides with throwing accuracy in the past few years. Hitting is hiabove average speed and can steal a good amount of bases ins best part of his game. He is a superb third baseman.
