Acoustic Basses Acoustic Basses have an original and unique sound that is often imitated. Acoustic basses use bronze strings, which are obviously made out of bronze. The reason for that is because steel strings don’t buzz and vibrate enough to get a nice, clean sound. Bronze strings also give and flex more that steel strings do. Acoustic bass guitars are usually made out of a thin, weak, flexible wood. The more the wood vibrates and flexes the more sound you will get. |

Acoustic basses aren’t as popular as electric basses mostly because of the delicacy of the wood. Some acoustic basses are acoustic and electric. Acoustic/electric basses have a pickup which is all explained in the Electric Basses page. They have an input jack in which you plug in the cord and they have a preamp. A preamp is the basic controls of the bass. |
