Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin in Kentucky on February twelfth, 1809. He was named after his grandfather who was also named Abraham Lincoln.

As Abraham grew a little older he became very tall for his age. He had dark black hair and gray eyes. He lived on a farm and had many animals. He helped his father in the fields. His mother would often read him stories. One of his favorites was the Bible. |
| At that time there were no public schools in Kentucky, but local parents would offer a schoolmaster a log cabin if he would open a school in it. When Abe reached the age, he attended Master Riney's "blab" school. It was called a "blab" school because all the students shouted their lessons out loud. |

One autumn evening Abe's father decided to move to Indiana. The Lincoln's had to get out of Kentucky because there was too much slavery. Abe's uncle lived in Indiana and said that Indiana would soon be a free state. |
| After a while an illness broke out in Abe's mother nursed sick neighbors and then got sick herself and there wasn't a doctor within miles. She soon died and left her family depressed. Soon after Abe got a new mother who eventually became the best friend Abe ever had. |
