In training boxers should wear full protective gear so they don’t sprain an
ankle or wrist while punching a punching bag or working with a trainer.
When boxers are in the ring they wear pro fighting gloves.  Most matches
require head gear, mouthpiece, boxing gloves, and certain types of shoes.
Boxing gloves are made to be comfortable, to have a tight grip, and to
reduce the amount of pressure on the boxers hand when a punch is thrown.
Most boxing gloves have a leathery outside and foam like inside.  The
glove is waterproof and it increases the durability.
These high performance pro bag training gloves are the best for speed bag
and heavy bag workouts.  This top quality cowhide leather glove has an
elastic strap to fit perfectly.  These gloves have a thin layer of foam to
absorb the impact from punching the punching bag.
Handwraps help protect the bones and tendons in your hands.  In addition,
they will help support your wrist and thumb.  To help prevent injuries, you
should always wrap your hands before working out.  There are many styles of
handwraps, and Mexican style is the most popular in the gym.
There are many
different ways to put handwraps on.  The most popular way is to first loop
the handwrap over the thumb, then wrap around wrist twice.  Then you have to
proceed to wrap around the palm, the knuckles two times, back around the
wrist, and again around the knuckles.  Then back to the wrist, then between
two fingers back to the thumb and back through two fingers, and so on.
The mouthpiece is one of the most important part of the boxer’s equipment.  The mouthpiece protects the boxer’s teeth from any punches to the face.  Some mouthpieces have a cut in the middle of it so the boxer can breathe without opening their mouth.
Some mouthpieces also have a gel like
substance so the boxer doesn’t lose the mouthpiece.  If the mouthpiece falls out from a punch to the face then it’s not the boxers fault so he is not penalized, but if it does fall out without getting punched he is penalized.
Headgear is very important, without it a boxer can have serious head injuries.  This high density foam is very comfortable and very shock absorbent.  The straps in the back are to give the headgear a tight secure fit on the head.
Some people like fancier headgear.
These all leather boxing shoes are most comfortable.  The inner lining of
the shoe is memory foam for a customized fit.  The laces on the shoe are
extra thick so they do not rip.
These training shoes or “strengthening shoes” have a flat-hard rubber
platform to keep the heels of the ground to build up the calf muscle.
