The golden retriever was
founded in the country of Russia. The were known as Russian Circus Dogs.
After the Crimean War, the breed's popularity became higher. The Russians
believed it to be a beautiful new breed and started to spread through the
country. |

The breed spread all over
the world soon. France, Spain, Norway, Scotland and Great Britain all fell
in love with the new breed of pet. Soon everyone wanted this beautiful
animal as a pet for their home. When it came to America, at first it was
not a very popular breed. After about 6 years after being brought to the
states, it's popularity sky rocketed. |

This breed of dog
is a
very pretty dog. Its yellow or golden with most likely big brown eyes. It
can grow to be up to 160 pounds but at the smallest size it can be only 80
pounds. They have big bushy tails and a big black wet nose. People have
described them as "lions" with all of their fur, color, and
stature. They are hunting dogs. |

Which means their fur gets dirty and at times full
with burrs, thorns, twigs and more. If you brush their hair everyday they
will stay soft and clean. They are shedding dogs which means a lot of hair
comes off them if you aren't consistent with grooming and brushing. |

They have great
personalities and are one of the most friendly breeds of all. They truly
give meaning to the saying "Dog's are a man's best friend". They
are one of the most loyal and trusting dogs. The have many jobs. Hunting
dogs, rescue dogs, seeing eye dogs, and so much more. You name it- they do

They, on average, live for
about 11-16 years. The record is 22 years old for a golden retriever. Wow,
is human years, that's 154 years! You will become more attached to this
cute pet every day you have it. This breed is susceptible to arthritis and
other bone problems when it gets older. Its leg muscles are one of the
most durable out of all breeds. |
