Most
first year rookie players in the NBA aren't exactly spectacular, with the
exception of a few players. They usually aren't to great because they
aren't familiar with the new style of game play that the veterans are used
to. Another good explaining reason as to why rookies aren't as good is
because they aren't as developed. Some of the men in the league are in
there 30's while some men are just leaving high school not even twenty
years old. Some rookies are good...but the only way to survive in this
league is to be athletic and quick. Being quick to the basketball and
aggressive during play is a sign of a mature player ready for the league.
Another big determiner in the production of rookie players is the comfort
level. If you've ever moved to a new town you know what this is like. Your
timid and not used to a new style irrelevant from your old one. A lot of
the time this occurs with many newcomers to the NBA. Some of the great
rookies today in professional basketball are Beno Udrih, Chris Bosh,
Anderson Varejao, Andres Nocioni, Lebron James, Al Harrington, Carmelo
Anthony, Joe Johnson, Quentin Richardson, etc. My personal favorite rookie
is Lebron James. He's my favorite because he's right from high school and
is playing like an NBA player who has been in the league for 5 years. The
rookies are a great group of guys and will be good down the road.
