Ballet is one of the many forms of dancing. It has been around for a very long time. Like many of the other forms of dance it is a way to express yourself. Ballet can be your job to. There are some people who are professional ballet dancers for there jobs. |

In ballet, you can wear two types of shoes. The first one is a flat sole shoe. There is a picture of that to the left. A flat sole shoe can be made of leather or other materials. A flat sole is common in young ballet dancers or just for practicing. Flat soles are very common for male ballet dancers. Flat soles are the cheaper of the two shoes. The other type of shoe is called a Pointe shoe. A Pointe shoe has a harder more solid top. It is used for dancers to go up on their toes and balance. Pointe shoes are used for more experienced dancers. Pointe shoes are more expensive than flat soles. |

To ballet classes most female dancers will wear a leotard with tights. Sometimes they wear little skirts over top of there leotards. Some of the dancers may wear leg warmers to warm-up in. |

Many male dancers just wear black tight pants with white tee-shirts. They may also wear leg warmers to warm-up in. To perform, they wear very detailed costumes. Prices on costumes can become very expensive. |
| Ballet classes like any other start out in a warm-up and stretching. Stretching may consist of doing splits and stretching out your legs and arms. A ballet class warm-up will be at the bar doing different combinations and extensions. |

| Warm-ups at the bar can take up a good amount of time. After doing warm-ups at the bar then you move onto doing different steps across the floor. Then at the end of class, some instructors may have you do a small combination or some perawet turns. |

| The style of ballet is very classical. The music you use to dance to ballet with is mostly all instrumental. Some new ballets have more of a jazzy-modern feel. Mostly all ballets are very original and classic. Ballet is a very serious type of dancing. |

Ballet takes a lot of your strength. You gain a lot of strength from ballet as well. Mostly all dancing comes from ballet. You get all your strength and muscle from ballet, too. All ballet dancers are very built. All male ballet dancers have a lot of upper body strength. They have to be able to do lifts and lift another person. Female ballet dancers are very thin and have a lot of leg muscle. |
