Roberto Clemente Roberto Clemente was born on August 18, 1934 in Puerto Rico. Clemente played professional baseball from 1955 - 1972. He spent most of his career with the Pirates. He was voted MVP in 1966 and led the Pirates to the 1971 World Series. He had a career batting average of .317 and 3000 hits. In 1972 he was killed in a plane crash. |

Willie Stargell Willie Stargell was born March 6, 1940. He played with the Pirates from 1962 - 1982. He led the Pirates to a win in the 1979 World Series. That same year he was voted team MVP. He had a career batting average of .282. Stargell was commonly referred to as a giant. He stood at a massive 6'4'' and weighed 225 pounds. Many fans remember him as 'Pops' a nickname which he had during the 1979 season. He passed away the same day PNC Park opened. |

Honus Wagner Honus Wagner was born on February 24, 1874. He played for the Pirates from 1897 - 1917. He is often said to be one of the greatest players of all time. Wagner has 3,415 career hits, 101 career home runs, and a batting average of .327. He was voted into the Hall of Fame in 1936 and died in 1955. |

Pie Traynor Pie Traynor was born in 1899. He played major league baseball from 1920 - 1937. He became the Pirates 3rd baseman in 1922. Traynor has a career batting average of .320 and has 1,273 rbis. When he retired in 1937 he had two World Series Rings. One of which he won with the Pirates in 1925. He was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1948 and died in 1972. |

Ralph Kiner Ralph Kiner was born on October 27, 1922. He played major league baseball from 1946 - 1955. He had 369 career homeruns and a batting average of .279. He was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1975. |

Paul and Lloyd Waner Paul Waner was born in 1903. Between 1927 and 1940 Paul and Lloyd Waner were both all-stars for the Pirates. Paul stood at 5'8'' and weighed 153 pounds. He was known as 'Big Poison'. Lloyd was 5'8'' and weighed 150 pounds. He was called 'Little Poison'. The two brothers had a combined total of 5,611 hits. Lloyd had 2,459 and Paul had 3,152. Paul had a career average of .333 and was voted into the Hall of Fame in 1952. |

Bill Mazerowski Bill 'Maz' Mazerowski was born on September 5, 1936. Maz is known as the hero of the 1960 World Series. He has a career batting average of .261 and was just recently elected into the Hall of Fame. He holds important National League marks such as a .992 fielding percentage in 1966 and his 392 consecutive games. |
