Eminem emerged in 1999 as one of the most most controversial rappers up until today. He was born in St. Joseph, MO. His real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III. Back when he first started performing his name was M&M, because of his initials. He was introduced to rap in 1983 by his uncle Ronnie. He started rapping at age 14 in the basement of his friend's home. His friend's performing name was Manix. Before he became famous he had troubles with the racial issues of being white and doing "black people's music."
	He decided that the easiest way to get attention from audiences was to be a battle rapper. After making a name for himself battle rapping, people started challenging him just to prove themselves. He used to just be a little poor kid, named Marshall, going around making trouble. Now he is a platinum rapper , still making trouble. Now that he has made atleast seven records and a movie he has decided to slow down to spend more time with his family. His daughter, Hallie, his niece Alaina, and his brother, Nathan all live with him. Hallie is 9, Alaina is 8 and Nathan is 19.He also has a band called D 12.
