Major  Fouls:  are potentially dangerous or interrupt play
Stick Fouls are when a defenders stick may not swing toward the body or head.   Slashing occurs when a defender swings her crosse at an opponent's crosse or body.  Misconduct occurs when a player conducts herself in a rough, dangerous or unsportsmanlike manner.

Three Seconds is when a defender may not stand within the eight meter arc, unless she is closely marking an opponent.  Body Fouls occur when defenders may not reach around a player to block a play.  Attacking players may not charge or lean their shoulders into or back into defenders.

Illegal Picks is when a defender which requires an attacker to change the direction of her play.  Charging occurs when a player propels the ball toward the goal without control or in the direction of a field player or goalkeeper.  Blocking occurs when contact is initiated by a defender who has moved into the path of an opponent with the ball.

Obstruction of Free Space occurs when a defender is not closely marking her opponent and is in the free space to goal of the attacker player with the ball.
Minor Fouls:  jeopardize safety or interrupt play

Within the twelve meter fan, a minor foul results in an indirect shot (the fan is not cleared and the player may not shoot on the goal, but must pass the ball).  Delayed Whistle is a defensive foul leaving the attack still in control of the ball will result in a yellow flag. Play will continue until the attack loses the ball, shoots or takes the ball behind the goal a second time.    

                        Goal Circle Fouls occur when any part of an  offensive or defensive player's body or crosse, except that of the goalkeeper or deputy, enters the goal circle.  Warding Off occurs when a player guards a ground  ball with her crosse or foot, removes one hand from the crosse and uses her free arm to ward off an opponent's empty crosse while she is trying to get possession of the ball.

                                                       

Empty Cross Check is when a player may not check an opponent's crosse unless the ball is in the opponents crosse.  Body Ball is when a ball hits a field player's body to her distinct are checking an empty stick, covering a ground ball with her stick or body, using hands or body to advance or stop the ball.

                                              

 

Use of an illegal stick, mouthguard or  jewelry, illegal substitutions, delay of game, or intentionally putting ball out-of-bounds.  The offending player is moved four meters away (not behind) the player awarded the free position.
