The grand slam

This consists of four annual International Open Championships: The Australian Open, The French Open, The British Open, and the U.S. Open.

 

The Australian Open

  The Australian Open is held in January and takes place in Australia. The type of courts used in the Australian Open is hard surface courts. This tournament is played in Melbourne Park.

 

The French Open

  The French Open is held from the middle of May until the end of June and takes place in Paris, France. It is the second of The Grand Slam. The French Open is played in a stadium called Rolland Garras and all of its courts are clay.

 

The British Open

The British Open is the oldest and the most Prestigious event in the sport of tennis. The British Open is played in London, is held in June and it the third Grand Slam tournament played. The British Open is the only one of the four opens to be played on grass courts. The British Open consists of 14 different courts. 

 

U.S. Open

  The U.S. Open is the fourth and final event of The Grand Slam in tennis. It is held during the time of August and September. The U.S. Open is held at the USTA National Tennis center at Flushing Meadows in Queen, New York.

 

Davis Cup

The Davis Cup is the International team event in men’s tennis. This is the largest annual team competition played in tennis. Four groups made up of more than 100 nations compete for this trophy.

 

The Fed Cup

The Fed Cup is the most important tennis tournament for female national teams. The Fed Cup is very similar to the men’s Davis Cup. Both events are sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation.
