Racket

  One of the most important pieces of equipment is the racket. A tennis racket has a thin frame made of lightweight material such as wood, graphite, fiberglass, or aluminum. The racket has a handle that is wrapped in rubber or leather to cushion the players grip. Across the racket “head” are woven strings that run back and forth across the racket. If a string breaks you can replace one very easily.

Tennis Balls

  Another thing that you will need to play tennis are tennis balls. Tennis balls are about 2 ounces and measure about 2 inches around an 8 inches across.  Tennis balls are covered in felt and is hollow inside. Most tennis balls are either a bright yellow or a whitish color.

 

 

Clothes

  Today many people wear loose comfortable clothes that they are able to move around in. Players usually wear tee shirts and comfortable shirts. Also, a sometimes woman wear special skirts or dresses specially designed for playing tennis. Also, when playing tennis, make sure to take all jewelry off because it could possibly break or catch in your clothing.

Shoes

  Also, when plating tennis you must wear comfortable tennis shoes. These tennis shoes are padded in special places to cushion your foot while running up and down the hard court. When buying tennis shoes make sure they are a good size to avoid blisters.

The Court

  One of the most important pieces of equipment for playing tennis is the court. The tennis court 78x27 ft. when you are playing singles and when playing doubles the court measures 78x36 ft. Tennis courts can either be grass, asphalt, clay, or cement. The court has a net dividing the court in two sides and the net is supported by two net posts. The tennis court is the surface where all your games will take place on.

 

Tennis Bag

  One last optional piece of equipment for playing tennis is a tennis bag. This can protect your racket and hold any other accessories you may need for tennis!
