A LITTLE ABOUT THE H1

      The H1 was never designed to be a household vehicle. The H1 was never "designed." It was engineered to meet some very specific requirements put forth by the U.S. Military. The H1 had to survive grueling conditions.
FUNCTION AND FORM

The H1 started as a list of requirements. Then became a series of components. That led to components working together to meet those requirements. How it looked was last of Hummers worries. Just so it worked was there biggest concern. Everything on the H1 has a reason to be on it.

     
POWER AND CONTROL

     The power to the H1 has a optimizer 6500 V8 Turbo diesel engine is the heart of the H1. this hummer has 205 horsepower at 3,400 rpm. The hummer also has 440lb.-ft. of torque at 1,800 rpm. Now with all this power what's the point of having it if you can't control it. The H1 has four wheel independent suspension and all time four wheel drive. 
Protection

     The protection starts with the hardened aluminum body. This was the body chosen because it is flexible, light weight, and corrosion resistant nature. The body is heat treated panels and bonded with adhesive and rivets. It might be more expensive but the strength is a lot better than the other SUV's on the market today. Under the H1 is a drivetrian and rocker panel protection. (As shown on left) The damage to the drivetrian and rocker panels can be almost impossible to fix.
GET INSIDE THE HUMMER

The interior for the hummer was changed for the civilian use. The new interior surrounds the driver for easy use. The materials might be soft to the touch but it is still rugged. The H1 now has a premium  Monsoon 6 disc in dash changer/radio. The front seats are now heated.
DRIVE RIGHT

     Hummer has a driving academy so you can learn how to drive a hummer right. This is exclusive to Hummer owners. It is instructed to teach you to take your hummer to the max with out hurting it. You also will learn some recovery techniques, mapping, trip preparation, correct use of everything that is equipped on your Hummer, and field repairs. 

 
      Another program isn't one that Hummer made up. It's the Tread Lightly program. This is a none profit organization that helps protect public and private land. With the power to cross any terrain you also have to protect it to. So this program teaches people how to protect the land. If you own a hummer they will give you a one year membership to Tread Lightly.
