There are 5 different
positions in basketball. There is the first position which is the
"point guard'. The point guard keeps the team undercontrol and
calls all the plays in the game. He most likely has the best ball
handling on the team. He starts out with the ball in usually every
play. He most likely is the smallest person on that certain 5.
The next position is the "2 guard". The 2 guard is the
second guard and is usually the go-to shooter. He is te person who
helps out the point guard with controling the ball and getting out of
pressure. The third positon is the 'small foward'. The small
foward can have a few roles himself. He should be able to handle the
ball decently, shoot, and get rebounds underneath the basket. The
fourth positon is the "power foward". His role is basiclly
the same as the small foward's but he most likely is taller. he will
do a little more rebounding under the hoop than the small foward.
the last but no where close to least is the "center". he
is problably the tallest and biggest guy on that certain 5. he will
stay down by the hoop to collect rebound and put them back in for littile
lay-ups and shoots. He is usually the go-to guy to get a quick
bucket. He need to be strong and be powerful because underneath th
hoop, esecially in the N.B.A., the game is very physical. It is very
important to know and do you role on the team, because say you ae the
point guard and u cant keep the team undercontrol and cant handle the ball
well, you will loose the ball under pressure and possilbly cost your team
the game. The plays dont start with out the point guard. And
if the plays cant start the opponite really has no challenge. |
