History
The diminutive Bichon Frise is primarily a companion and show dog in today's society. The original purpose of this breed was not to chase game, flush birds, or herd animals, it is a domestic companion. Like the poodle and many of the other curly coated fogs that originated in Europe, the Bichon Frise is descended from the Barbet or Water Spaniel. |
| The name "Bichon" is actually a contraction of "Barbichon," which is the diminutive form of "Barbet." The early popularity of the breed is evidently for the French invaders of Italy in the 1500's that brought many fop the dogs home with them as war booty. Under Francis I, the Bichon became establish in the French royal court society. Its peak of popularity came, however, under the reign of Henry III. |

The Bichon Frise is the most attractive little dog, full of charm and very appealing. The Bichon is vigorous, stylish, and confident, attracting attention wherever it appears. As well, this fluffy bread is intelligent and highly attentive; they show very well in ring competition. Grooming
With a breed like the Bichon Frise, who demands a great deal of grooming in order to look up to par. So in that case you may very well have to take the dog to the professional grooming salons regularly. But after a while you could feel that by watching your dog being groomed so long that your could do it yourself. Or you could have had lessons from a knowledgeable breeder or friend who owns a Bichon. |
| To prepare the show coat, brush out from the skin to make the hair stand strait out. Housebreaking
Your new puppy may have already have received some basic house training before it arrives in you home. Housebreaking is you first training concern and should begin the moment you bring the puppy home. Ideally puppies should be taken outdoors after meals. As with a human baby you must be patient, tolerant and understanding of your pets make him feel loved and wanted, not rejected and isolated. |
| Like housebreaking, training should begin as soon as the puppy enter the house. The formal training sessions should be short but frequent, for example, ten to fifteen minute periods three times a day. These are much more effective than long, tiring sessions of building your relationship with your puppy during these times so make them as enjoyable as possible. It is a good idea to have these sessions before the puppy's meal not after it when he wouldn't feel like exerting itself; the dog will then associate something pleasurable with its training sessions look forward to them. |
