The corvette is one of North Americas greatest sports cars.  The corvette is made in the Chevrolet Division of General Motors.  Fiberglass bodies are used on the Corvettes.  Fiberglass never rusts and it is very light weight.

The first corvette was made in 1953.  Many looks were deigned since then.  It is one of the fastest cars in the world.  People buy corvettes because they increase in value as they get older.  1953 to 1972 corvettes are worth the most money.  1973 to 1982 corvettes are increasing in value too.

A man named Harley Earl designed a corvette prototype in 1951.  A single car, made as an experience ,is called a prototype.  Prototypes are developed into production cars.  Cars that are sold to the public are called production cars.  Earl called the prototype project Opeal.  Earl later called the prototype project Opeal the corvette.  It was named after a corvette warship.  The first corvette was shown at the 1953 Motorama car show in New York City.  The corvettes code name was the EX-122

A man named  Ed Cole was Chevy's chief engineer.  The corvette rolled off the assembly line on June 30, 1953.  300 corvettes were built that year.  All 316 corvettes were polo white with a sportsman-red interior.  The corvettes top speed was 108mph.  The corvette had a blue flame engine.
