John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool.  He grew up in a middle class neighborhood and lived with his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George.  He was very close with his family and when he was ten he received a harmonica from his uncle, which he played all the time.  He was very rebellious child and loved Elvis.
 

When he was in his mid-teens he became interested in guitar and started a band called the Quarrymen. He played guitar and was lead singer of the band that played at school dances and parties. 

 

Then at a performance Paul McCartney met John and they stared playing together. Then soon enough George Harrison was added to the band and they thought they had a band. 

  John failed all of his school exams but got accepted to the Liverpool College of Art for his drawings.  The college was also where he met his first wife Cynthia.  Soon enough he dropped out of college when his band mates convinced him he could make it in the music business.
  John moved out to Hamburg and then in 1961 he became so famous he got asked to write a column in a local music magazine. Then John and Cynthia had their first child Julian in 1963.  Then in 1964-1965 John published two books consisting of poems, drawings, and stories. In 1965, the band was awarded Members of the British Empire or MBE.
  In 1965, John told a journalist that the band had become bigger than Jesus.  From that, Christians in the United States started protesting against the Beatles. The people held rallies and burned Beatles records.
  Then, at an art show John meet Yoko Ono and fell in love and then they married in 1969.  John and Yoko held a lot of protesting against the Vietnam War. Since he was protesting he decided to return his MBE to the Empire.
  The Lennon Family moved to the United States in 1971 and later in 1975 they had their only son Sean whose godfather was Elton John. John was very in love with his son and spent most of the time with him
  On December 8, 1980 John was shot five times by John Chapman and died on the way to the hospital.  Then in 1994, he was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.  Still to this day John Lennon is a name and a person that everyone knows as one of the most amazing men ever.
