When you get a new puppy the first training you should do is housetraining. Usually after every mean you should let your dog outside to relieve himself. |

| Remember you will have to repeat yourself many times for the dog to catch on. When you decide to train your dog something new you should start out short but frequent sessions, for example ten to fifteen minutes three times a day. Your Golden should get used to a collar and a leash as soon as possible. | ![]() |

| Feeding-
The importance of nutrition on your dogs bone and muscle growth cannot be over emphasized. If you decide to switch the brand of food you should gradually add the new brand until you totally switch over to your newer brand. |

| When your Golden Retriever is a puppy, you should feed them small portions at several times a day. Your dog should be gaining weight regularly, until your dog has fully grown. They should stop gaining weight when they are no longer a puppy. | ![]() |

| Toys-
Toys that are made out of rubber are usually safer for dogs. Providing the toys is made of 100% hard rubber and not compounds. The rubber must be "virgin" and not re-grounded from old tires, tubes or other scrap rubber. Another toy is a nylon toy. |

| These nylon toys are annealed so that they won't be fragile. Some dogs have jaws strong enough to chomp off a piece of bone. A bone should be replaced when a dog has chewed down to the knuckle. Most dogs slowly scrape off small pieces of the bone which passes through their digestive track. | ![]() |

| Some chew toys have flavorings to them to keep the dog more interested. If your dog had his chew toy for a while, you could put the flavor back in it my boiling it in some chicken broth for about 30 minutes. | ![]() |
