POINT GUARD

Raymond Felton, a 6' 1" junior, averages 7.1 assists per game. He was one of the team's worst defenders last season, but has improved for this year. He was the 2002 National High School Player of the Year at Latta High in South Carolina.

SHOOTING GUARD

Shooting guard Rashad McCants is a key player on the team. He is fifth in ACC history in scoring. He reached the 1,000 point mark in only his fifty-sixth game, tying Joseph Forte in fastest Tar Heel to reach 1,000 points. He was also the Gatorade Player of the Year in New Hampshire in High School.

SMALL FORWARD

As a freshman, Jackie Manuel averaged 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He is one of the finest defensive players in the country. He has a great attitude, hustle, and defensive presence. He became the second Tar Heel to earn All-ACC Defensive Team honors.

POWER FORWARDS

Sean May averaged 14.1 points and 9.4 rebounds a game in his freshman and sophomore seasons. He was the first sophomore to lead the ACC in rebounding in ten years. May had a career high 28 points against Georgia Tech on January 11, 2004.

CENTERS

Damion Grant is one of the only centers on the Tar Heels. He has tendonitis in his knees, which limits him to playing time. Last season he only played three games. Grant played in the games against Virginia, Clemson, and Wake Forest. He grabbed two rebounds in the win over Virginia.

COACHES

It is head coach Roy William's second year at North Carolina after coming from a championship contending Kansas team. Last season, Carolina averaged 80.2 points per game, their highest scoring average since '94-'95. Williams now has a record of 437 wins to 112 losses, a winning percentage of .796. He was an alumni of North Carolina himself.
