POINT GUARD Dee Brown was a preseason Wooden All-America candidate this season. He started every game last year and was ranked fourteenth in the Big Ten in scoring with 13.3 points per game. He once shot fifty percent(7-14) from the three-point range in wins over Iowa and Northwestern. He was also a Second-Team All Big Ten selection by coaches and media. |

SHOOTING GUARD Deron Williams, a six foot three junior, was also a preseason Wooden All-America candidate. Last year he was a First-Team All-Big Ten selection. He ranked eighth in the Big Ten in scoring at 14.0 points per game. He had a career high of 31 points, including six three-pointers, in a win over Cincinnati. |

SMALL FORWARD Senior Luther Head was ranked fourth on the team in scoring last season, averaging 11.0 points per game. He made a game winning shot against Purdue after putting in a blocked shot with nine-tenths of a second left. Head was third on the team in assists with 75 last year. |

POWER FORWARD James Augustine was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection and started every game of the season. He led Illinois in rebounding with a 7.3 average. He was ranked fifth in the Big Ten in blocked shots with 1.3 a game. Augustine scored a career high 21 points in a win over Memphis. |

CENTER Roger Powell was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team last season. He averaged 13.3 points the last eleven games before the NCAA tournament. As a freshman he played 27 games, only averaging 2.9 points a game. He earned first-team All-State honors from the Chicago Tribune at his high school in Illinois. |
COACHES
Bruce Weber took over as the sixteenth Fighting Illini men's basketball coach on April 30, 2003. The team's 26 wins in 03-04 tied the third winningest season in school history, with Weber leading them into a Sweet Sixteen appearance. Weber is an energetic and friendly person, appearing on different networks such as ESPN and CNN.
