One of the greatest guitarists ever was Jimi Hendrix.  He played two different styles of music, blues and rock, combining them to make a new style of music.  He also used revolutionary new techniques, great showmanship, and a unique playing style to make his band extremely popular.  This page will tell you about him.
Jimi was born in nineteen forty-two  in Seattle, Washington.  In September nineteen sixty-six he left for England where he had been invited by Chas Chandler, the animals bass player.  He had invited him there after seeing one of his terrific performances at the Cafe Wha? in Greenwich Village.  His music would be better excepted in England.
After being in London for two or three weeks, Noel Redding, a bass player, John Mitchell, a drummer, and Jimi Hendrix formed "The Jimi Hendrix Experience".  Their first and second singles were "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze".  And then they released "Are  You Experienced" their first and best cd.
In nineteen sixty-seven Jimi played at the Monterey Pop Festival in the United States.  He ended an amazing show by lighting his guitar on fire, smashing it up, then throwing it to his screaming fans.  This was a huge moment for Jimi, and it helped to launch his career in the United States of America.

Unfortunately Jimi became harder and harder to work with.  His band disbanded, and he was eventually found dead in his apartment from and over dose on sleeping pills.  Many people suspect it was a murder and his late girlfriend killed herself when the government refused to reopen the case saying that there wasn't enough evidence.

Electric Lad Studios was built to Jimi's specifications and is still open and recording records.
