Skateboarding was first thought of in the 1920's. The first skateboard was a pair of roller blades nailed to a board. Today Skateboards are maple plywood about six or seven layers thick, trucks, urethane wheels, high-quality axles, and bearings. To skateboard legally you must wear all equipment, (as helmets, pads, etc.). Most skaters skate in illegal terrain without equipment. many pro-skaters are sponsored and get free clothes, boards, etc. They do many various tricks. Skateboarding today is very common even though in the late 1960's skating and surfing fads died out.
