Lou Gehrig Lou Gehrig is known as "The Iron Horse". After playing 2130 straight games he said goodbye to the game of baseball. The for this was that he had contracted a disease that was unknown at the time but is now called Lou Gherig's disease. He died two years later. I quote "today I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the earth". This is an exert from his goodbye speech where he was honored by the Yankees. |

Jackie Robinson Jackie Robinson broke many barriers for Negro players when he became the first Negro player to play in a major league game. On April 14th, 1947 he went 0-3 but would accomplish many things during his career including being the first Negro player in the Hall of Fame. |
