The Dave Matthews Band formed in Charlottesville, West Virginia around 1991. It all started when vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs on tape. To give his songs more musical depth he decided to bring in some instrumental help.

Dave ended up finding a drummer named Carter Beauford and saxophonist Leroi Moore for some assistance. They are both accomplished jazz musicians. They also found 16-year old bass player Stefan Lessard. Completing the band was a keyboard player named Peter Griesar, but he only stayed with the band for a couple of years.

The first official gig for the Dave Matthews band was May 11,1991 at a private rooftop party in Charlottesville. Local weekly gigs quickly followed. In a little amount of time the different and contagious sound of music spread through the world. Clubs started to fill up, tours started, and fans grew at an incredible rate.
On November 9,1993, DMB released their first album called Remember Two Things on its Bama Rags label. The album was recorded live. the fans got very excited. The band kept on touring and the fan base for the band began to grow quickly. The fans are allowed to tape shows for their personal enjoyment which made the band a highly interactive community. That spirit still continues today.

The band had many other tours and CD's. The acoustic-rock style of music began to spread even more.
During the beginning of 1994, Dave Matthews Band recorded its RCA debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. Just before the album's release on September 27, 1994, the band hit the road for their first official national tour.
The band continued to create more CD's over the years. They performed at a lot of concerts and they also continued to play amazing music for all of their fans!
