Basic Facts Cameroon is located on the western coast of Africa. It has a varied landscape on high mountains, beaches, marshes, grasslands, and semi-arid scrublands. Cameroon has more than 200 ethnic groups that live there. When you are there you may find that people live in many different types of places. Some people live in the mountains or forests, where there's barely any other people. Other live in large cities such as the nations capital Yaoundé or Douala. Most of the people here are farmers. Cameroon's economy is better then some of its neighbors. |

Wildlife Cameroon has many animals living here. They eat the regions vegetation. They have many different birds and land animals. They have herds of buffalo, giraffes, and antelope. They also have lions, panthers, and cheetahs who prey on those animals. Elephants, rhinoceroses, hippopotamuses, hyenas, baboons, and anteaters. Some of the birds are ostriches, ducks, pigeons, and guinea fowl. Both the male and female antelope have horns. Baboons usually live in groups of 40 members. hippos eat about 130 pounds of food each day! |

Health Most of the health risks here are from the unsafe drinking water, poor diets, and the lack of basic medical care. Many professionals have made progress in approving the health care there. |
