There are five positions in hockey. They are right wing, left wing, center, defense, and goalie. The right-winger plays on the right side of the ice. In the offensive zone he tries to get the puck and set up a scoring chance for himself or someone on his team. In the defensive zone the right wing stays at the top of the zone and covers the defenseman so that he can't stop the puck from going out of the zone or get a shot on the net. The left-winger does the same thing as the right-winger except they play on the left side of the ice in both the offensive and defensive zones. The center plays in the center of the ice and in the corners in both ends of the ice. Their job is to get the puck in the offensive zone and create scoring opportunities for himself or his teammates and in the defensive zone he tries to get the puck off the people in the corners and helps the defense with the people in front of the net. The defense pays at the top of the offensive zone and tries to keep the puck in the zone. In the defensive zone their job is to cover the people in front of the net and the people in the corners. The goalie only plays in the defensive zone and their job is to keep the puck out of the net. |
