Football is one of the most popular sports in America today. This sport attracts thousandsofplayers and millions of spectators to the games each year. Football is so popular throughout the world that it was banished in England because it was taking to much attention away from archery, which was the most popular sport there This amazing sport is usually played with two teams from different cities or states. Each team gets a chance to play on offense, and then on defense. The goal of the offensive team is to try to get the ball across the goal line, and the defense tries to stop them by tackling them. Each team gets to have eleven players at the most on the field at a time. A typical football game is broken into four sections that are called quarters. Each quarter is made up of fifteen minutes, but it usually takes more, because the clock stops when ever a pass play ends, and many other times during the game. After the first two quarters, there is a break period for twenty minutes call Half time. During this, the teams go into the locker rooms, and plan out the rest of the game. |
