The origin of the Collie is very vague. It came about around the year 1860. Queen Victoria loved the beauty and intelligence of the Scottish Sheepdogs when she visited that country. “Old Cockie”a handsome collie was born in 1868. The Collie came to the United States in 1878. Eleven males, five females, and three puppies were exhibited at the Westminster show. A Collie named Magnet was born in 1917 and looked exactly like what a Collie today would look like. |

Other name for the Collie is the Scottish Collie. It weighs anywhere from 51 to 75 pounds. The Collies height is between 22 to 26 inches. Their colors are sable and white, tri colored and blue merle. Its coat can be smooth or rough. Its life span is 12 years. The litter size is 6 to 10 puppies. Smooth coats have very dense, straight outer coat with soft, furry under coat. Rough coats have short, harsh, and smooth with a dense undercoat. |
