There
are many health concerns and risks due to genetically modified foods as
well as the environmental concerns. Britain
and Europe have limited the distribution f genetically modified foods
because of many health concerns and risks while the United States
hasn’t. The Food and Drug
administration (F.D.A.) does not conduct scientific reviews of foods that
from bioengineered plants because of the many unpredictable risks of
genetically modified foods. One
result being, that the benefits of bacteria in the human body may be
altered by the mutation of genetically modified foods so that there is an
anti-biotic resistance in our bodies.
This resistance may affect our ability to treat serious illnesses
which could which could ultimately result in death.
DNA is not always completely broken down in the alimentary tract,
after a long period of time genetically modified foods could damage the
stomach or gut. Some people may produce allergies to the DNA that is put into
genetically modified foods, as well.
Because of these serious conditions I, believe that genetically
modified foods should be limited in the United States.
